Lyris Technologies Celebrates 10th Anniversary and Named To San Francisco Business Times' '100 Fastest Growing Private Companies'

BERKELEY, CA - October 12, 2004 - Lyris Technologies announced today that it has been named to the San Francisco Business Times' list of the '100 Fastest Growing Private Companies' in the San Francisco Bay Area for the second year running. Lyris ranked 36th on the list with a three-year growth record of 140% and after-tax profitability of greater than 26%, up from its 40th place ranking in 2003.

This month also marks Lyris' tenth year in business as one of the foremost developers of commercial email management software and services. Its best-selling software for opt-in email marketing, Lyris ListManager, is used by more than 4,000 businesses and other organizations, including such household names as Frederick's of Hollywood, H.J. Heinz Co., and the Republican National Committee. Lyris also develops a suite of anti-spam products, including the award-winning MailShield Server application used by more than 300 businesses to protect millions of inboxes from unwanted email.

San Francisco Business Times, a publication of American City Business Journals, Inc., ranked privately held companies in its '100 Fastest Growing Private Companies' competition. Participating companies must have had at least $200,000 in FY 2001 revenue, and the accounting firm of PriceWaterhouseCoopers verified their financial information.

Among Most Profitable
Of all '100 Fastest' companies reporting their profitability, Lyris Technologies was among the most successful. Lyris was one of only four businesses reporting after-tax profit margins greater than 26%.
